Gerade dachte ich, dass die Neuigkeiten in der NBA vorbei sind (ausser den Ergebnissen der Playoffs natuerlich), kommt diese neue Nachricht heraus. Die Washington Post hat heute berichtet, dass Gilbert Arenas und Awvee Storey wurden in Miami verhaftet. Sie muessen die Anweisungen der Polizei wohl nicht befolgt haben.
Von Arenas’ Verein, den Washington Wizards wurde bisher keine Stellung genommen.
Hier ein Orginalauszug:
“According to the police report, Storey was walking in traffic in the middle of a busy street when an officer told him to get back on the sidewalk. When Storey did not get out of the street, the officer arrested him and charged him with failing to obey a command.
As the arrest was made, Arenas got out of a vehicle and walked toward the arresting officers. Arenas was told to get back into his vehicle but refused, saying he wanted to stand next to his teammate. Arenas was then taken into custody and charged with resisting without violence.”
Klingt ganz so als wenn Arenas ein netter Mensch waere, der seinen Mitspieler nicht im Stich laesst – diese Aussage wird aber schnell wieder durch folgende zerstoert:
“As Arenas was arrested, according to the police report, he said: “You can’t arrest me. I’m a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards and I’m not going to leave my teammate.”
Es ist sicher nicht gerade sehr schlau zu einem Cop in den USA zu sagen, dass man nicht verhaftet werden kann. Ich kann es gut verstehen, dass ein Cop das als herausforderung wahrnimmt.
Beide wurden aber wieder nach einer Nacht freigelassen. Live and Learn, Gil!
